Theodore High School opened its doors to the public to showcase its new Signature Academy.
Theodore's Academy of Healthcare and Dental Assisting is in its first year, and it has already made a huge impact on the lives of the students that are enrolled.
Currently, twenty-one students are enrolled in the Dental Assisting Program at Theodore, and surprisingly, all of them are female students.
Susan Sheffield is the instructor for the Dental Assisting Program. With more than 30 years experience as a dental hygienist, she offers the students in her class a wide range of knowledge.
The Dental Assisting Program at Theodore High School a two-year program. The students we spoke with are juniors and are hoping to continue in the dental field after they graduate high school.
The Academy of Healthcare and Dental Assisting is one of eight Signature Academies with the Mobile Public School System. Students can apply to any of the schools and receive credit.
